After watching the premiere night of the movie “My Teacher” starring Joey de Leon and Toni Gonzaga, directed by Paul Soriano, Mariel went to social media wherein she shared her opinion about the movie.
The wife of senator Robin Padilla posted a picture of Joey and Toni on her Instagram Story along with the caption: “Best Actor and Best Actress this MMFF!!! Toni and Mariel have been close friends for a long time. They have helped one other out tremendously in their pursuits.
Apparently, the declaration/prediction made by Mariel did not happen after the Best Actor award was given to Ian Veneracion for the movie Nanahimik and Gabi while the Best Actress award was awarded to Nadine Lustre for the movie Deleter.
This led online users to criticize Mariel’s declaration.
Some netizens said Mariel jinxed Toni’s Best Actress win, while others made fun of Direk Paul’s claim in an interview that his wife is the “most powerful celebrity today”. On the other hand, one netizen interpreted that MMFF was meant to be “Miss Mariel Film Festival.”
