Carmi has been in the local entertainment industry for four decades already.
The veteran actress recalled in an interview how she confronted a co-star on the set who was “pasaway.”
Since she has been in showbiz for a long time, she has come across co-stars with attitude issues as well as pasaway who arrived late to the set and didn’t even say sorry.

“Ahh oo, may na-award na ako. Basta, it was long time ago. Meron akong soap sa ABS-CBN. Sobrang tagal. Tapos ilang beses nangyari. Pag dadating, yung… di man lang nagso-sorry to anyone, or nagbibigay pugay sa mga beteranong artista. So isang araw, na-award ko. Sinabi ko, ‘Alam mo, ang tagal-tagal mo! Kanina ka pa namin iniintay!” she said.
She first appeared in Dolphy’s Angels with Liz Alindogan, Anna Marie Gutierrez, Yehlen Catral and the late comedy king Dolphy. She did more movies with Dolphy such as Stariray, The Quick Brown Fox, John en Marsha, Dancing Master, Dino Dinero and Father & Son.
During the 1980s, she was considered one of the most daring actresses. One of her first daring projects was Hot Property. It was directed by Lino Brocka, and starring Phillip Salvador and Dennis Roldan. It was one of the official entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 1983
She also starred in the movie Laruan (1984) starring Angela Perez and Mark Gil. It is directed by Emmanuel H. Borlaza. Aside from that, she also starred in the movie Akin Ang Iyong Katawan starring Christopher de Leon, Dennis Roldan, and Maria Isabel Lopez, directed by Lino Brocka.
