Synopsis: Journalist Kibe Michiko (Yoshioka Riho) attends a literary award ceremony where she hears from chief editor Manabe Takejiro (Omi Toshinori) about suspicions that the winning novel Hana no Hito by Hongo Motoko (Yamamoto Mirai) was plagiarised. But she is more interested in the chilly smile of Mimura Kozo (Yasuda Ken), the chief editor of Shinbungei, when he looks at Motoko rather than this piece of gossip. The next day, Michiko is asked by Manabe to gather materials on the plagiarism but she declines, citing that she is busy with the serial child kidnapping cases that happened in Shizuoka three years ago. Because the case remains unsolved with a child victim is still missing, Michiko continues to pursue the truth to this day. Meanwhile, Mimura receives a puzzling query from Hirose Tatsuya (Otani Ryohei), a Shizuoka-based doctor who treats psychosomatic medicine. Hirose’s patient Takaoka Maki (Ichikawa Yui) says she is a writer and knows Mimura very well. Although Mimura has no recollection of her, he is astonished after he sees the manuscript that she sent in the post. This is the unpublished work of Kisugi Kyoko (Iriyama Noriko), an aspiring writer whom he was previously in charge of before she disappeared. He visits Maki right after that and determines that her dressing and manner of talking are just like Kyoko. At the same time, a former colleague of Michiko who had been following up on Hana no Hito, dies mysteriously. The alleged plagiarism which had been seen as gossip eventually develops into a huge case that rocks the publishing industry.
